The Weekend In Life

DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-TROIT BAAAAAAAAAS-KET-BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!
The week of complete basketball overload is over... and I already miss it. The moral of the story? CAROLINA #1 OVERALL SEED GET OFF ME NOW FOOLS! Of course, it looks like they may have been placed in the toughest bracket, so the road to the Final Four is gonna be a long one, it would appear.
Before I get into full basketball talk, first, enjoy one of my favorite things possible... the song choice is just genius. I really have no idea what it is... but something about this copters just makes me laugh. Hilarious.
Rob and Big +10 each for these helicopter shenanigans, Meaty +2 for chasing that copter. For the "dirty girl" portion of the show: -3 to Big for picking the dirtiest girl there! No way she should've made it to the finals... -3 to Rob for cheating and +1 to Big for cheffin'.
Carolina and College B-ball Life:
Carolina's first round game was largely uninteresting, as the went through the motions in a win over Florida State. At the time, I was more focused on trying not to poke my eyes out while the Michigan/Wisconsin game played on the second screen. Later in the day, I realized I was a terrible person since I had been wearing my Wisconsin t-shirt during that game! Go Bucky?
Anyway, in the 2nd round against VA Tech, things go interesting. It was a struggle, but Wayne Elllington (+5) caught fire to keep the 'Heels in it, and then, the man, the myth, the legend, Tyler Hansbrough hit a game-winner and had an awesome celebration! +7. Watch and enjoy:
Sunday the took down the ACC title AND EARNED THE #1 OVERALL SEED, FOOLS! Entire Carolina roster and Coach Roy Williams +10 for that one.
The worst thing about the ACC tourney? Opera Steve. He is some sort of "hip-hoperist" whom they had sing all the team's names, opera style. Awful. -10.
The Big East had a similar musically-themed interlude guy, who was so bad, he was good. The premise for that tourney was that it was the best type of reality tv. So they had a spoken word guy/MC walking around the streets of NY, describing basketball as reality tv. Then they would play the hook, which I ended up singing all weekend: "You want reality TV? HERE IT IS! You want reality TV? HERE IT IS!" +7 if I knew who that guy was.
Other random conference tourney weekend moments:
Bill Rafferty gave us all a classic "ONIONS!!!!" call in the SEC title game, +4.
Greg Gumbel with the hot suit for the selection show. +1
Dean Smith in the house for the ACC tourney!!!! +10
Oklahoma player with the same name twice -- Longar Longar in the house! +3
Miscellaneous Life:
With Kristin in D.C. for the weekend, the rest of my team was spent with a lot of poker. Sunday night I got myself into a H.O.R.S.E. tournament at the Bike that ended up lasting way longer than I thought it would, and I bubbled! Awful. 1st place was 16k... 18th place was nothing... then I got home at 5 A.M. I was frustrated, coming home, then Ice Cube's "A Good Day" came on, and everything was great again. +5.
During the home poker portion of this show, I caught up on all things "random internet":
Wyclef +3 for his live rendition of "Wyclef For President".
Carnegie Mellon now has a Sneaker 101 class! That is lovely.
Kanye West +3 for his blogging skiz-nills.
EJ, Kenny, Charles, Magic -- +2 each for last Thursday.
Lil Weezy came with a whole 'nother sound on this one... hot. +5
