03/07 Life
Lost Life:
After last week's thriller, this one was bound to be a letdown... and it was, but it grew on me, to some degree, by the end. This one was old school, in that it used the flashback technique, like the early days of the show. The problem with that, is that the main subject was Juliette, whom I do not like. The other problem was that the only big "reveal", was the Charles Widmore tape, and that's something I had already assumed. So it was more a confirmation than a revelation. There were still some funny moments though, and one thing is for sure -- present Ben is waaaaaaaayyyy better than past Ben. How creepy/despicable was it when he declared that Juliette was "his"? Wow. Point tallies:
Claire +4 for questioning Locke, although it did seem out of character.
Locke, -1.
Jack, -6 -- for the 1.67 millionth time... SHUT UP, JACK!
Juliette -2.
Ben, -6. Past Ben got him in trouble this episode... claiming ownership over Juliette earned him a -10, by itself. It was hilarious at the end though, when he said, "Hurley, Sawyer -- see ya at dinner!" Ha. Too make this even weirder, I'm listening to Thriller 25 right now, and "The Girl Is Mine" just came on!
Michael Emerson -- Even though I didn't like Ben's moments, Emerson does a good job MAKING me not like them... +4 for him, as an actor.
Hurley and Sawyer +3 each for their horseshoes interaction.
One Tree Hill Life:
The most recent disc of One Tree Hill season 4 was a complete train wreck. Did they really have to bring that damn stalker back? I don't even want to talk about it... a few highlights:
Chris Keller back in the house! +3
Lucas and Peyton doing the deed! +2 each
Whitey "I was hoping for a booty call" +3
Basketball Life:
Neither Thursday TNT game was good, as both ended up being blowouts, but they were both good to watch... Jim knows what I mean. I especially liked watching Houston. I love Houston! I love McGradles. My dream is for the Rockets to somehow upset the Lakers in the Playoffs... but it doesn't look like the brackets will lineup right for them to even play. Tracy McGrady +4, Luis Scola +3, Rafer Alston +3 and Dikembe Mutombo +1.
Announcer love: Marv Albert +3 for the Dallas/Houston game, The sweet nothings of Doug Collins' smooth voice in the CHI/CLE game... +3, Ralph Lawler on Wednesday, somehow talking about Linkin Park with Mike Smith +1 and +2 for Clippers/Lakers announcing on Friday, and Hubie Brown +3 for breaking it down, as always, on Friday in the Spurs/Nuggets game.
EJ (+5), Kenny(+6) and Charles(+6) were up to there usual hijinx, of course.
LeBron James' pre-game dunk. +3
Sam Cassell -- +2 for interview on TNT.
The Lakers DRUBBED the Clip Joint Friday night... that sucks. And I hate Derek Fisher. -3. The Nuggets beat my other squad, the Spurs, but that was fun. Kurt Thomas (+3) was looking crazy, J.R. Smith (+4) was shooting like crazy, and Eduardo Najera (+5) had Hubie Brown going crazy. Najera was everywhere. If you didn't know, he added the 3-point gun to his arsenal this year and it is awesome. He's what Tyler Hansbrough might be in the NBA, in my opinion.
Tony Parker earned +3 in that one, as well.
Miscellaneous Life:
The Sports Guy did an entire podcast on The Wire, with Jason Whitlock, and they brought up some interesting points/ideas. +3.
Jon Stewart +3 for his Bush oil price retrospective and +2 for something else on The Daily Show.
That reminds me... George Bush is a fool. -10.
Pete Rock interview. +3.
Daniel Negreanu's blog -- Shit is deep, son -- +3
Cam'Ron -- "I'm the definition of a hot mess". +3.
