Life Goes On... Post All-Star

Rock this, while you read (Pharrell, +3, Malice +3, Pusha T, +3):

Movie Life:

During one movie marathon, prior to every movie, a behind the scenes look at Gridiron Gang, starring The Rock, was featured.  It looked awesome, in a "so bad it's good", kind of way.  I've wanted accept the Mustang Challenge ever since, and Monday, I finally got my chance -- what an experience.  The Rock is so inspirational... ha.  +6.  And +3 to Xzibit.

The next night, I watched a movie that was good in the more traditional sense, The Departed.  This one was very well done; a whole 'nother type of look at the already thoroughly covered gangsta life.  I both disliked and like the ending... I didn't want Leo to go out like that, at all.  And who knew he would actually ever earn Brett any points?  Martin Scorsese -- +5, Leonardo DiCaprio +5, Mark Wahlberg +5, Vera Farmiga +3, Matt Damon +1, Anthony Anderson, +1.

I also re-watched, Lady In The Water, I movie I really like.  Apparently, though, that opinion was not shared by many critics, and it even won a Razzie for Worst Move Of The Year!  Why the hate?  As it turns out, it seems a lot of this was caused by good ol' sour grapes on the part of critics.  You see, in the movie, there is a movie critic portrayed in a not-so-positive light, and he doesn't come to a positive end.  Real live critics apparently took this personally.  Nice objectivity, guys!  Another big beef was the "self-indulgence" of M. Night Shyamalan's casting of himself as a writer who changes the world with one of his works.  Whatever.  This is a case of people knocking a movie, not because of the movie's merits, but because of a personal vendetta against the Director.  I still love it.  Shyamalan +5, Paul Giamatti +7, Jeffrey Wright +2, Freddy Rodriguez +2, Cindy Cheung +2.

Basketball Life:

Marcus Camby... EAT YOUR BREAKFAST!!!!  Paul Pierce, +3.

Big Baby Davis... Tony Allen... EAT YOUR BREAKFAST!!!!  Carmelo Anthony, +3.

And it's still just great to watch Allen Iverson play.  +3.

Even though I forgot to watch the game, I found out about this QT highlight after the fact:

Quentin Thomas, +5.

TV Life:

Rob & Big in the fat suit episode... what in the world?  Rob +5, Big +2.

Rob & Big "homeless hook-up" episode -- Rob +3, Big +3

Generally, Snoop's "Fatherhood" has been boring.  However, a couple of good things happened in the last two episodes I watched.  Snoop did a show in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and he managed to pimp out the traditional futbol chant: "Oh lay, oh lay, oh lay, oh lay, Snoop Doooog, Snoop Doooog", +2.  Then, due to stress, a doctor suggests he start up a yoga routine.  A joke-in-the-can, sure, but still, his reaction is priceless (+1) and his jokes at the actual session are comedy. +3.

During a recent episode of Poker After Dark, Chris Ferguson could not decide if Jamie Gold was bluffing or not, on an all-in bet, so he LITERALLY flipped a coin to decide whether or not to call!  Awesome.  +3.

The Wire -- Clay Davis had a tremendous performance on the stand!  +4.   And a random +1 for something else he said.  And you gotta love Omar, hobbling around on that crutch, and STILL gangsta.  Come down on the streets and dance with Omar!  +2.  That Editor dude (Clark Johnson), +1.  He's gonna bust that damn reporter.
