Living the Bad Life
Duke 89, North Carolina 78. That sucks.
No Tywon Lawson = no win, but that wasn't the entire story. If Tyler Hansbrough hits his normal free throw rate (-3), or Wayne Ellington (-3) doesn't shoot 3-14, it's a whole different game. I hate Duke. Here's the rest of the scoring recap:
Roy Williams was good-natured and joking about Tywon in interviews leading up to the game, +1.
Former Carolina stars in the crowd, +1 each: Raymond Felton, Sean May, Julius Peppers, George Lynch.
Dick Vitale back on the M-I-C! +1. And then it was funny during the game as he talked about almost getting emotional. +1.
Quentin Thomas was feeling the pressure coming into this one, and although he had some dumb turnovers, he still played well, overall. His flurry at the end of the 1st half led to +3 and his drives in the beginning of the 2nd led to +2 more.
Hansbrough was solid, but those free throws were killers. His only positive was a jump ball situation where he lifted the Duke guy off the ground as he fought for the ball! +1.
Deon Thompson came out on fire, notching +2 for early scoring and +1 for a great one-handed grab, but foul trouble limited his impact the rest of the way.
As usual, I loved Danny Green's pre-game dance (+1) and he had a great block (+1).
Coach K? Jerk -- -5. Greg Paulus? Asshole -- -5. Mike Patrick? STOP MAKING A POINT TO RIDE ON QT! -5.
And the rest of life...
Music:
Cormega released a Soundtrack/DVD combo recently: Who Am I? It's a little too compilationy, with a lot of unknown guests, to get huge points, but it gets a +3, especially for "Sleep Well" feat. Dwele and "The Rap Game" feat. Little Brother.
I finally got around to listening to Mary J. Blige's latest, Growing Pains. Ehh. I think she needs to step down from "Queen Of Hip-Hop/Soul", as this is pretty much straight R&B. It's solid, but I probably won't listen to it much. +1.
Last new album of the day, is from Devin's group, the Coughee Brothaz. When Devin's on the track, that's when it's hot -- his usual funny, drug-induced lyrics. +3.
Basketball:
In last night's NO/PHX thriller, Steve Nash ran his defender in circles, literally, to get wide open and hit a three to force double OT! Awesome. +1.
Tim Duncan had a nice one-handed tip oop, +1, and Manu had a fun laying-on-the-ground rebound, +1.
I caught 'Sheed's now traditional pre-game dance, +1.
Futbol:
Ugh And whut?!? Ronaldo +3.
