If I'm spending life points, that is.

Bill Simmons, The Sports Guy, +7.  While listening to his hilarious podcast segment from 01/15 with his friend Jack-O, I had one of those epiphany-type moments.  How perfect is Simmons' situation?  He has managed to build a career around watching/writing about/talking about sports and pop culture!  Awesome.  I like to consider myself a poor man's Bill Simmons and dream of being in such a position.

PokerRoad Radio:

The boys are broadcasting live from the Aussie Millions this week.  I just have to say, why does Bart Hanson talk like that?  He's a good host with one major problem -- that high-pitched, too happy voice he uses sometimes.  It makes me cringe.  -3.  And to get all of the negative out of the way, guest Lee Nelson had a terrible cackle/laugh that he kept letting loose after every comment from anyone, regardless of whether or not said comment was actually funny.  -3.

Gavin Smith and Joe Sebok are the reason I listen though, and they did not disappoint.  Smith +3 for funny, and Joe Sebok +3 for saying "This is awesome" and using the term "gaffled".

Speaking of awesome, who knew that term would comeback with such a vengeance?  I had long tried to avoid it's use, thinking myself too "hip-hop" for it.  Eventually though, after one fateful trip back home to N.C., I found my "hip-hop" friends were using it, and it just sounded funny to say.  So I dove right in.  Now that's awesome.


Poker After Dark:

Gavin Smith is back in Life news for his drunken appearance on Poker After Dark.  Drunk as hell, he was needling the table constantly, resulting in both funny and awkward moments alike.  And he went on to win the sucker!  +5 overall, which includes -1 for his man boobs.  Damn, Gavin.

Danieal Negreanu +2, Phil Ivey +1 and Doyle Brunson +1 for the same set episodes.


Carolina Basketball:

They sure are not making this thing easy!  Another barn-burner last night in A-T-L, where they escaped with a 1-point victory over Georgia Tech.  I like those NC State-style blowouts WAY better.  Roy -- FREE Q.T.!!!  Quentin Thomas stepped in again, dropping dimes, hitting shots... looking good!  +4.  Tyler Hansbrough took ridiculous abuse last night, suffering 3 or more different injuries to his face, all drawing blood!  He went to the line a lot, but the refs probably could've called even more.  I have no idea how he does not lose his cool more.  +4.


Music:

Atmosphere recently released a free album for download, Straight Leakage.  Hot.  Better than most official joints.  +5.

Jay-Z +5 for "American Dreamin' ".  Dude is at this "flo-rida" best.  He is literally inside/on top/in sync with that beat, and just SPITTING!  Hot.

Wyclef, Lil' Wayne and Akon, +4 each for "Sweetest Girl".  I love that song.  REPEAT!


Random:

Britney Spears, -6.  Now, this pregnancy test crap may or may not be true, but either way, she's a bad person for it.  If she did anything even close to getting pregnant, it's awful.  And if she's playing a joke on the world, it's awful too.

Jon Stewart another +1 for A Daily Show... George Bush -3 for more idiotic Middle East exploits this week...
