Weekend Recap

I just wrote a long explanation of Joe Sebok vs. Isaac Haxton, then Windows crashed, and I lost it all.

First of all, this blog software sucks, since it doesn't have auto-save.  Unfortunately I can't dock life points for that, because I don't know who to blame, and don't want to waste further time figuring it out.  As for Windows, crashing, -5 for Bill Gates.  Linux STILL doesn't do that shit.

I'm not rewriting the explanation either, but it came out to Sebok +3, Isaac Haxton -5 (I will say he is a cocky, jerk, poker nerd who acts like his shit don't stank).

The rest of the weekend involved a lot of basketball watching, with a little football mixed in.

Commercial and ad points:

John Cougar Mellencamp, +1, because if you haven't heard, this our country!

Peyton Manning,  +1, for some good ol' southern talk in an ad.

-3 to Phil Simms and Joe Torre for a really odd green tea ad that's been appearing in Sports Illustrated.  I'd actually heard that Simms is a big green tea drinker, but do they really think this has crossover potential to the sports talking public?  Weird.  Unfortunately I can't find the pic online.

Football points:

Leroy Hill, LB for Seattle, sacked Todd Collins THROUGH his blocker.  Awesome.  +4.

And while we're talking Hills... -3 for those terrible highwater pants Faith Hill wears for the NFL on NBC.

Random points:

Obama's love for basketball has come to light recently, and I love that we could have a baller in the White House!  He took down a Sports Illustrated writer in a couple one-on-one matches recently.  +3.

Basketball points:

Saturday was all about Ceatles vs. Pistons, Round II.  The Ceatles broadcast channel really played this up, even using boxing gloves for each commercial break.  It was a good game, tough basketball played, as expected.  The Ceatles took this one down, largely due to one Big Baby Davis!  He scored a bunch of points down the stretch and clinched the game.   +5 for Big Baby.  Kevin Garnett got in the mix too, giving Davis the patented Sam Cassell "big balls" gesture on the bench!  +1.

Rasheed Wallace earned +2 in that game as well, for good 'Sheed dancing in the pre-game.

Sunday had Kristin and I headed to the Staples Center for the Clippers v. Spurs game, courtesy of Kim and Ben.  Thanks guys!  Both teams looked like they must've been out on Sunset the night before, as they were playing some sluggish, ugly basketball.  Points were earned though... Tim Duncan +2 for pre-game antics and 17 boards!... Tony Parker +3 for his overall performance, pulling this one out... Al Thornton +2 for entertaining yet largely ineffective basketball... Cat Mobley +1 for just being Cat... Manu Ginobili +1 for general antics...

The game of the weekend though was Carolina v. Clemson, ACC league opener, in Clemson.  The Tarheels got all they wanted and more, barely pulling it out in OT.  WAYNE ELLINGTON.  +8 for 36 points and a buzzer-beating 3-point winner.  Just let this guy tell you about it.  Most of the other Tarheels weren't at their best, but Ty Lawson had the great dish to setup Wayne, and showed some good hustle, sliding at least 10 feet across the court in an effort to save a loose ball.  +2.  Tyler Hansbrough was held in check by the Clemson big men, but was clutch when it counted.  +2.  Whew.
